New Zealand Whites

When my dad was a small boy, his childhood friend was Steve Reid, son of American Rabbit Breeder Hall of Famer Don Reid. When Dad walked into the Reid’s rabbitry and saw their big, beautiful White New Zealands, he fell in love with them. One of the few boyhood trophies my dad has kept through the years is a trophy he won for his New Zealand Senior Buck, JC2 – the Best In Show winner at the 1969 Illinois State Youth show. Dad credits Don Reid and his wife Muriel for creating a love for livestock that is still with him today. Although few in numbers, our New Zealands are the best we have ever raised as evidenced by my recent BEST IN SHOW win at the 2008 Kansas State Fair 4-H show out of 650 entries shown by 112 exhibitors. I exhibited the National Champion Youth Meat pen at the New Zealand Spring Nationals in Sedalia, Missouri in 2007. And one of my customers used Cedar Hollow Bucks to sire the Grand Champion Meat pen at the 2008 Missouri State Fair that sold for $4,500. If you are looking to either start raising New Zealands or just to improve your herd, let us know. May I suggest that you email me your needs several months in advance. As we go through our herd, we will consider rabbits that will best assist you with creating the success you want. |
